Biography

Bart Walsh, MSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, offering treatment since 1987. He conducts a private clinical practice and directs The Milton H. Erickson Institute of Portland (Oregon, USA), affiliated with the Milton H. Erickson Foundation.  Bart’s clinical orientation is essentially a strengths perspective with a solution focus. In addition to direct clinical work with individuals, couples and families, Bart offers hypnotherapy training to qualified professionals and conducts workshops in the USA and in Europe. His articles have been published in The American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. His most recent book is entitled Emotional Regulation using Signals of Self. Areas of special interest and focus for Bart include hypnotherapy, epigenetics, sex therapy, trauma recovery, chronic illness, eating disorders and substance abuse.

Director of the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Portland since 1995.

• Director of Affinity Counseling and Hypnosis, a private therapy practice with individuals, couples and families since 1990.

• Part-time contract position at Kartini Clinic for Disordered Eating, providing individual treatment for eating disordered clients and those with co-morbid conditions 2003- 2017.                      

• Conducting workshops and training through the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Portland and at the invitation of the Renfrew Center Foundation, Netzwerk Esstorungen- Austrian Eating Disorders Association, the Multi-service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA), the Milton H. Erickson Foundation, the National Association of Social Workers, the Oregon Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.
