Bhupendra M. Palan, born May 24, 1951 worked as Assistant Professor of Physiology at Medical College, Vadodara from April 1981 till June 1995. Earlier he worked in the Department of Physiology at M. P. Shah Medical College, Jamnagar from January 1975 until April 1981. He was also in charge of the “Psychosomatic Medicine and Hypnotherapy Clinic” at the S. S. G. Hospital, Vadodara from 1987 to 1995. Dr. Palan is now running his Samatvam: Institute for Mind-Body Healing, Healthy Living and Realizing Human Potential at Vadodara. He is a visiting faculty (post-graduate teacher and Ph.D. guide) with K.M. Shah Medical College and Research Institute, Piparia, Vadodara.

Dr. Palan obtained his basic qualification in Medicine (M.B.; B.S. - 1973) and post-graduate degree (M.D., Physiology - 1979) from Saurashtra University, Rajkot. He was then trained in Medical Hypnosis through the Basic Hypnotherapy Training Course of the Indian Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (ISCEH) in 1982. He also participated in several International Advanced Workshops in Hypnotherapy in Toronto, Canada (1985) and at The Hague, the Netherlands (1988). Dr. Palan is the first and only doctor in India to have obtained a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis from the American Board of Medical Hypnosis (ABMH), USA. He is also a Yoga Teacher recognized by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy, Government of India, New Delhi. He is a student of Bhagvad Gita and Upnishada since 1992.

Dr. Palan was a post-graduate teacher, examiner and Ph.D. guide in Physiology with the M.S. University of Baroda. Dr. Palan contributed in the creation of a one-year P.G. Diploma course in Clinical and Applied Hypnosis conducted (since 2000) by the M.S. University of Baroda and he is one of the core faculties for the same. He is a core faculty for the national level Basic and Advanced Courses in Hypnotherapy held by the ISCEH and for the Yoga Teacher’s Training Courses held by Yoganiketan, Vadodara.

In association with Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT), Changa,  Dr. Palan created an Online one year Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis in 2016. This is the first and only online clinical hypnosis learning programme from an aspiring world-class Indian University ( which gives an opportunity to study the theories, principles, and practice of hypnosis in Indian psychological context. Uniquely, the course is a balanced blending of basic Indian spiritual concepts and contemporary Western therapeutic approaches.

Dr. Palan has contributed at National and International level in academic journals and books in the areas of Stress Management, Psychosomatic Medicine, Yoga, and Hypnotherapy. He is a life member with the Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India, Indian Society for Training and Development, Indian Society of Clinical Psychologists and International Brain Research Organization (IBRO). Dr. Palan received an Award from The Banyan City Jaycees, Baroda as an outstanding young person (1988) for his contribution in the field of Medicine.

Dr. Palan has developed a “Holistic Stress Management and Self-development (HSM & SD) Programme” (now called “tranceformation”). He is also giving a programme, “Towards Success and Excellence” to higher secondary students since 1996.
